Seven-time JUNO Award-winner Feist joins festivities in Toronto
MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity associated with CARAS, and more than 800 high school students and staff at Harbord Collegiate Institute gathered today as seven-time JUNO Award-winner Leslie Feist celebrated Toronto’s landmark school as the recipient of a 2008-2009 MusiCounts Band Aid Grant. Awarded annually, the $10,000 grants provide musical instrument funding to schools across the country to help sustain their music programs.

MusiCounts extends its most sincere thanks to SIRIUS Satellite Radio Canada for its renewed commitment to music education. SIRIUS’ significant contribution will greatly enhance MusiCounts’ efforts to impact thousands of students in both English and Francophone Canada by helping schools develop diverse new musical ensembles and new programs that will give students access to a greater breadth of musical education and brand new instruments. “SIRIUS is proud to renew its support of MusiCounts,” said Andréanne Sasseville, Director of Canadian Content Development and Industry Relations, SIRIUS Canada Inc. “We share MusiCounts’ passion for music as it is important to give all students an opportunity to discover and develop their talent.”
